About Lisa Dr. Lisa Brinkmann is originally from Ireland, but grew up in Germany where she lived until her return to Ireland in 2007. From 1999 until 2004 she studied Clinical and Educational Psychology as well as Sexual Sciences at the University of Hamburg. She graduated with a Pre-Diploma (Bachelor) in 2001 and with a Diploma (Master) in Clinical and Educational Psychology in 2004. In 2007 she was awarded with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. From 2004 until 2007 Lisa worked as Clinical Psychologist at the Institute for Sex Research and Forensic Psychiatry of the University Hospital Hamburg. She was part of the first German research group evaluating the treatment experience and treatment satisfaction of adult subjects with different forms of intersexuality. Further, she was part of a European research group on transsexuality (research project: "Diagnostic criteria, treatment and evaluation of adult and adolescent subjects with gender identity disorders in four European countries") and a joint founder and member of a clinical task force on the optimal treatment of children and adolescent individuals with gender identity disorders in Germany. At University Lisa was trained in behavioural and humanistic therapy, but also uses psychodynamic approaches in her clinical work. In 2007 she was trained in Hypnotherapy at the Milton Erikson Institute for Hypnotherapy in Hamburg. Dr. Lisa Brinkmann has publicised numerous scientific articles, especially regarding Intersexuality, and appeared in several German radio and TV-documentaries as an expert on intersex-matters. Further she has held speeches and presentations at various national and international scientific conferences regarding the psychological problems and demands of subjects with intersexuality. Lisa is member of the German Psychological Association (BDI) and the German Society for Sex Research (DGfS). She is fully accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland and the Department for Health and Children to practice as Clinical Psychologist in Ireland. Download |
